Mississippi State Fires Zach Arnett as Head Coach

After Disappointing Season and Loss to Texas A&M

Arnett Out After Just One Year at the Helm

Mississippi State University has fired head football coach Zach Arnett after just one year at the helm, Athletic Director Zac Selmon announced Monday.

The decision comes after a disappointing 5-6 season that culminated in a demoralizing 51-10 loss to Texas A&M University. The defeat proved to be the final straw for Arnett, whose tenure at Mississippi State has been marked by struggles and controversy.

Arnett, born September 10, 1986, had previously served as an analyst at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He was hired as Mississippi State's head coach in December 2022, following the tragic death of his predecessor, Mike Leach.

The update to this story was made at 1:44 PM PDT on November 13, 2023. According to CNN, Arnett's firing follows a turbulent season for Mississippi State, with the team facing challenges both on and off the field.
