Train services at East Croydon station have resumed after being suspended for around two hours this morning due to a security alert.

Police were called to the station at around 7.20am today (Tuesday, March 7) to reports of a suspect package. The Army’s bomb squad was called in and carried out a controlled explosion of the package.

The station was evacuated and train services were suspended while the incident was dealt with. However, services have now resumed and trains are running again.

The incident caused major disruption to train services in and out of London, with many trains being delayed or cancelled.

Passengers are advised to check before they travel.
